    Flight from Austin to Charlotte

    Airline:
    US Airways
    RT/OW
    Round Trip
    Number of Stops:
    No stops
    Date of Flight:
    August 2010
    Seat Class:
    economy

Check-in was great and the flight left on time however US Airlines does not serve snacks anymore and their seats are ridiculously uncomfortable. Just two weeks before I had flown Delta and was reasonably happy with the experience and in-flight service but US Airways knocked me out with their lack of care for the passengers.

So while I'm hungry and uncomfortable we get a message about 15 minutes before we are supposed to land that the Charlotte airport is closed and we will have to reroute to Columbia, SC - fine I understand - no one wants to land in a lightening storm. However, when we land in Columbia we sit on the plane for 2 hours without any food or drink (the flight attendants say they can't serve drinks on the ground - not even water)! After sitting on the tarmac for 2 hours without an update we are ushered into the terminal where we find everything closed, the local time is 12am. We are all very hungry and tired and ready to be at our destinations. About 2 hours later we are boarding the plan back to Charlotte and we land safely. You did have the option of leaving the Columbia airport however US Air would not be responsible for any travel expenses you occurred. This by far was the worst flight I have ever taken and that isn't even the end!

I departed Charlotte to go back to Austin 3 days later and while waiting at the gate we get an announcement that tells us the flight is delayed due to the fact that the plane is "broken" (I'm not kidding, they used the word broken over the load speaker). 1,2,3 hours go by and no plane. Going on the forth hour of waiting at the gate the plan finally arrives and we board hoping that we get to our destination safely.

US Air needs to take a long class on customer service because theirs is atrocious. I understand that you cannot control "acts of god" but you can control your passengers comfort level while enduring them.I should have listened to my friends who told me "friends don't let friends fly US Air"

Bad in-flight service, terrible comfort and we were rerouted.
