I used to do travel nursing & flew Spirit many times at reasonable rates & had pleasant experiences BUT now I wouldn't travel with them anymore. It's amazing they don't charge you for using the restrooms. I truly didn't save enough with the $9.00 Club to make it worthwhile since after you sign up for it you find out you then get charged "for the seat". What's up with that? Can I stand if I choose? NO!! No leg room at all & not even water. Shame on you Spirit!!

although I don't like having to pay extra for my seat, it was an average experience, but for a 2 1/2 hour flight what can you expect? It took off & arrived on time both ways.

I was looking for the cheapest non-stop from Phila. area to Tampa, and Spirit out of Atlantic City was it. The leg room in the seats was nil, there is no free beverage or snack and you have to pay to put a carry on in the overhead compartment. I paid less, got there safely and on-time, which was the objective. The guy behind me had his seat reclined the whole flight, which cut in to what little space I had. Just a reminder, please be courteous of your fellow passengers.

I chose to fly out of Atlantic City and was pleasantly surprised with the airport facilities- none of the crowds and craziness of Newark Airport. On the plus side: Check-in went smoothly enough and the employees were all courteous and kind. Boarding was pretty smooth. Negatives: you need to contort yourself to slide into the seats since they are so close together- not easy for my 6'3" husband. Only 2 restrooms on the entire plane, so if there were one of those tarmac delays, or long flights we would have been in trouble. We brought our own refreshments so were not affected by cost of refreshments offered. Take-off and landing were not as smooth as other flights I have been on and weather was not a factor. Extra fees for choosing a seat prior to day of flight. The imminent new fee for carry-on. Although I like the idea of discouraging travelers from bringing ALL of their worldly belongings onto the plane as carry-ons, it also impacts those of us who bring an actual cary-on size that FITS under the seat or in the overhead. Why should we be punished? Don't think I will travel Spirit again.

I usually fly out of Newark Liberty airport, but deicded to try Spirit from Atlantic City for my family wedding trip to Tampa. I booked the flight In January- at first sight the fare seemed very reasonable. The website was slow, but I was able to navigate it successfully. Once I actually logged on to book rather than browse, I found that there are additional fees, from checked baggage fees (and the upcoming carry-on fee that goes into effect soon) to a fee just to choose the seat assignment. This is ludicrous. By the time I went through the entire process, I could have flown cheaper on a major airline that starts with a "C". There is the $9.00 fare club which is attractive for some, but to me it is not worth the 2 hour drive to AC. To be fair, I must say that the experience checking into the airport was more pleasant than in Newark. The workers were courteous and expedited the process. On the plane, I didn't like the fact that there were only 2 bathrooms, no TV or radio, a very tight squeeze getting into the seats. We bought our own food to bring onto the plane, so weren't bothered by the lack of free airline food. Since our flight was only 2 hours, it was ok, but I wouldn't want to be on this plane for a long flight.
