Spiritair has the distinction of being among the first airlines to charge extra for checked luggage; now, they have proclaimed their intention to collect more for carry-ons. Add that to a face-to-face check-in experience with a countertop touch screen instead of an agent, insufficient space to access a window seat walking straight up once in the plane, inconsiderate parents who pay no attention to their screaming kids, and the latest information in print related to the increasing number of mid-air collisions and there you have Spririt in particular and all the airlines, generally. Remember TWA? I worked aloft for that company in the mid-60s. Suffice it to say that flying with the big airlines then provided customers an extremely satisfying experience. I hope that, once all today's CEOs have made as many millions as will make them comfortable, they will order that ticket prices be increased so that the services that distinguished one company from the other be upgraded and once again, included in the price. The first company to take this path ought to see its profits greatly increased.
