We always fly Air Tran from AVL to MCO. Prices are the lowest, seats are the best. Departure times at both ends give you almost a full day at both ends, and best of all, you do NOT have to go through Atlanta!

Not the airlines fault this time but the weather. My flight from Orlando to Charlotte was delayed by frost on the wings and the leg from Charlotte to Asheville was canceled altogether. No other flight was canceled so I am not sure why they did that leg, of course they said it was weather related the good ole standard reply.

While I applaud an airline's record of on-time departures, an early departure can spell disaster for a traveler. I was returning from a funeral on the 3:45PM flight on Aug 22nd when delays kept me from getting to the airport until an hour before departure. Fortunately Asheville is a small airport, but the security line was long an slow. I kept thinking I could make it to the gate by 3:20, when the flight should be in the midst of boarding. The flight status board still showed On Time at gate B4. I was hustling down the concourse when I heard a LAST CALL for my flight at 3:15! I did make it to the gate onto the jetway, and several people ran up behind me wondering what happened - they had gone to the restroom, and were also panicked by the last call. We pushed back from the gate at 3:30! Bottom line - fly the advertised time! Don't panic your passengers like this!
