Delta Airlines charges an "upgrade" fee of $29 to passengers who switch seats to emergency exit row seats.
Passengers on a Delta Airlines flight from Albuquerque to Salt Lake City were stunned to hear a flight attendant sternly scold a passenger for switching his seat to an empty exit row seat after the doors were closed.
The Delta flight attendant asked the passenger if he had paid for the "upgrade" to that row. To which he responded - what do you mean? She informed him that it's an additional $29 fee to have an emergency row exit seat!!
Since when? This was clearly news to all on board.
Passenger then asked what difference does it make since doors we closed at this point. She proceeded to tell him that the plane would not leave the gate unless he returned to his seat or showed proof of purchase for the emergency row seat!!
Airlines often ask passengers in these rows if they are willing to help in case of emergency. It appears that Delta says - by the way that will cost you!!!
