We left Albuquerque 1 hour late to go to our connecting city in Atlanta. Since we where with wheelchair support, they took us to the gate where the plane FLight 2052 was already boarding. Our plane left the gate and we were put into a holding runway because of storms in Charlotte which was our final distination. The pilot said that were had to wait for 30 mins because of storms in Charlotte (the airport had been closed) Each 15-20 mins he gave us an update. Since the new law about holding passsengers only 3 hours --as we sat there with very low air condition on in the plane and the outside was 90+ degrees --it became uncomfortable. The pilot after awhile had the crew pass out snacks and drinks even though this plane had not been serviced for such, the remainder from the previous flight was left on the plane. They served everyone (no ice) but every one seemed pleased that during this long delay that at least we were comforted with peanuts and drinks. The crew could have nothing more for us to make us comfortable in a bad situation. People were on their phones to business or loved ones letting them know of the situation. At 2 hours and 30 mins the pilot said that if Traffic control would not move us up to take off we would have to go back to the gate. of course none of us wanted that and more delay. The good news at 2 hrs and 56 mins was that we would depart and if needed we would cirlce around until able land as all the planes on the ground in Charlotte needed to get out of the gates and up. We landed in Charlotte and had to again wait because of a plane in our gate. The crew handled the people very well and was very calm which kept the passengers happy. We had delays but we landed safely and the pilot and crew were exceptional.
