2 by 3 seating in the original Pan Am 707

    Hard to believe, but when Pan Am first launched its 707 jet, coach class had one side of the plane with two seats and the other with three, allowing for wider seats for everyone. Of course, as we all know, airlines quickly changed that to three by three seating to cram more people in. A photo from 1959:
