This is why we need some airline industry regulation. Bradley, one of our site's visitors, used frequent flyer miles to book a flight, which was subsequently cancelled so he asked for his miles back, which he got. But he paid a $50 fee to US Airways to process his frequent flyer award. US Airways refused to give back his $50, even though it was they who cancelled the flight! Outrageous? We think so.
