Continental now has a cool flexible date search option

Posted by George Hobica on Monday, January 5, 2009

Maybe this has been around for a while, we're not sure, since it's well hidden: the ability to do a flexible date search over any one month period and over a range of length of stays. To get there, click on "advanced options" from the home page. We suspect this is powered by our friends over at ITA software, and of course, it only shows Continental's flights. But if CO is your airline of choice, it's a great tool. Once you see the page below, click on "my dates are flexible"

Well, Southwest has a good flexible search in their ShortCut feature (link from home page: http://southwest.com/cgi-bin/lowFareFinderEntry). American searches over a 31 day span as you noted. But Orbitz, which also runs on ITASoftware, has a good flexible date search...you can query over any 30 day period. Travelocity offers a 330 day search on most airlines but only in economy class and mostly on domestic routes, although they're adding more and more international ones.

Hi George - It's good to know CO is offering this function. I know AA offers the function, too. I only wish that it would allow you to look at larger windows than just 30 days at a time.

I was wondering if you knew which other airlines offer this sort of fare finding functionality? (Might be a good blog post idea for you.) :)
