SAS "24 Days of Christmas" Day 23: Gdansk

December 23, 2008
Fares from Washington DC:

    Day 23 of the Scandinavian Airlines "24 Days of Christmas" features Poland's fourth largest city in Poland and the country's principal seaport. Located alongside the Baltic Sea, Gdansk is known as the birthplace of the solidarity movement, which played a major role in bringing an end to communism in Central Europe. Things to do and see include St. Mary's Church, which is said to be the largest brick church in the world, the former path of procession for visiting Kings called Royal Road and of course tasty Polish food and beer.

    Here are some sample fares I found on SAS' website (roundtrip with taxes and fees included). In parenthesis is the competition's price:

    * Wed 01/14 - Fri 01/23: Chicago (ORD), $521 2 stops (Lufthansa $787 1 stop)

    * Mon 03/16 - Mon 03/23: Washington (IAD), $499 2 stops (Orbitz $622 2 stops)

    * Sat 04/25 - Sat 05/02: Newark (EWR), $676 1 stop (LOT Polish (JFK) $1,135 1 stop)

    * Mon 05/04 - Mon 05/11: Seattle (SEA), $676 1 stop (Lufthansa $1,309 1 stop)
