The two year old Canadian based Porter Airlines is a great alternative for travelers in the Chicago and New York City area. You can fly nonstop to or from Toronto on this stylish low budget carrier.

Please note that while most airlines flying into Toronto use Pearson International Airport, Porter Airlines uses Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA).

So if you find a competitor's fare that is slightly lower, remember that you still have to pay for a cab to and from Pearson, which is about 18-20 miles from downtown Toronto. as opposed to City Centre Airport, which is a mere 1-2.5 miles from downtown Toronto.

Plus Porter Airlines offers complimentary shuttle service between downtown Toronto and TCCA, approximately every 15 minutes. The Porter shuttle runs from the west entrance of the Royal York hotel, at the north-east corner of Front Street and York Street. So you while you may save money, you will definitely also save time with Porter.

Here are some sample fares I found on their website. In parenthesis is the competition's fare.

**Sun Mar 01 - Sat Mar 07: Chicago (MDW) - Toronto (YTZ), $168.48 (United using Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and Toronto Pearson (YYZ), $166)

**Sun Mar 15 - Sun Mar 22: Newark (EWR) - Toronto (YTZ), $245.88 (United using Toronto Pearson (YYZ), $210)

Porter intends to expand service to Boston, Washington and Philadelphia in the near future. If you are not familiar with Porter Airlines, then check out the Porter Experience. If you like what you see, then head on over to Porter Airlines and start booking your next flight to the Great White North.
