Off Peak Thanksgiving sales in full swing

George Hobica, October 20, 2007
Fares from Washington DC:

We knew they'd do it! Southwest launched an off peak Thanksgiving sale yesterday, and now many airlines are matching.

Here's the deal: you have to travel to grandmother's house, assuming you have one, on Thanksgiving Day and return either the same day (fuggedaboudit) or the Friday after, or the Tuesday after.

On many routes, you'll get to the dinner table in time, but the earlier in the day flights will be the first to sell out, as will the return flights leaving later in the day on Friday or earlier in the day on Tuesday, so act fast. Southwest's sale ends Oct. 22, and probably others will also end then, but who knows, if seats don't sell they will extend it.
