Lufthansa Fall Sale to Germany and Beyond

August 07, 2007
Fares from Washington DC:

Lufthansa is having a great sale to Germany, most notably Frankfurt, starting at $397 from New York for November departures, but available for travel as soon as August 21 at higher rates.

The best deals are actually not the official Lufthansa sale rates, but the United code-share fares found on Orbitz. Using the 30-day flexible search feature, they may not be immediately apparent in the calendar matrix, so click on specific dates to see them.

We have listed all non-stop routes from Lufthansa's 15 U.S. gateways. While lower fares are available from some cities on connecting service (often non-stop in one direction) the savings—starting at $50—are in most cases hardly worth the extra hassle.

As for points beyond Germany, this sale has some good fares on flights connecting through Frankfurt, but, perhaps more interestingly, it has the competition riled up enough to offer non-stop flights at only a small premium, depending on the destination.

When the difference is 10% or less, we consider the higher non-stop fare to be the better value and have listed those. Some sample destinations are Amsterdam, Brussels, Madrid, Barcelona , Athens, and Istanbul, so be sure to check our New York page for those fares.

This sale has recently been extended to August 20, but the best code-share and competitor fares are likely to be snapped up sooner.
