Should airlines be regulated again?
Beginning in 1937, the old Civil Aeronautics Board regulated domestic airlines, setting fares, routes and schedules. In 1978, airlines were deregulated. Since then, airfares have gone down substantially, and the process to establish new airlines has been made less bureaucratic.
However, most airlines formed after deregulation have gone bankrupt, airline service has deteriorated, and airlines are losing money. (Click on "View Survey")
