In-Flight Drink & Snack Prices

"What would you like?" Flight attendants ask passengers that question dozens and dozens of times each flight.
Recently, one of our Airfarewatchdog fans asked us to compile a list of drink and snack prices for domestic flights. Beer, wine, cocktails and/or snacks are usually offered on each flight yet prices and menu items vary from one airline to another. My favorite drink while flying: Salvador's Premixed Margarita on Continental Airlines.
For economy class flights within the U.S., here are the drink and snack prices we found.
Flights:
International Flights: Delta and Northwest offer complimentary beer and wine in economy class for international flights of six hours or more. American, United and US Airways? Since there is no written confirmation on their websites, we're still verifying whether or not these three airlines provide complimentary beer and wine for economy class passengers on international flights.
Credit/Debit - No Cash: Most airlines now have cashless cabins where payment for drinks or snacks will only be allowed by credit or debit card. For those who do not have a credit or debit card, some airlines will allow you to buy in-flight coupons or vouchers. These vouchers must be bought before you get on the plane. Check with your airline representative at the ticket counter or gate so you know how to pay for a drink or snack.
Drink Deal! Purchase a Southwest $15 drink coupon book at a ticket counter or gate, and receive 4 drink vouchers. 4 drinks for the price of three - just for you and your friends.
As a reminder, alcoholic beverages are for adults 21 and older. Flight attendants will not be afraid to ask you for your ID, so keep your credit card and identification handy.
Remember; moderation is key when drinking on a flight. The last thing you want to do is get into trouble with a flight attendant while having one too many cocktails. Play it cool and have a nice trip!

I was just on US Airways flights to and from Frankfurt this past week, and I can confirm that they charged the same prices for beer and wine as they do on domestic flights

On my flight from Chicago to London last April, there was a charge for Beer, Wine, and Cocktails on American.

Continental does not serve peanuts on its flights. Almonds or other nuts are offered but peanuts specifically are not. Also depending on the length of the flight and time of day a free hot meal can be offered on Continental.

I remember flying economy from Denver to the East Coast within the last six months on Continental, early in the morning, and I was absolutely shocked to receive a FULL complimentary breakfast! Coffee, cold cereal, fruit, and juice... I mean a *real* meal! As far as I know, Continental is the only airline that still offers this courtesy for passengers flying long domestic flights in economy class. It absolutely made my day! Honestly, knowing that Continental is so generous with snacks and even meals always makes me choose them over Northwest or Delta when their fares are the same price. So sad they're leaving the Skyteam alliance later this year!

I flew Northwest from Seattle to Tokyo in May and was charged for my wine in economy class as was the person sitting next to me.

I fly the FRA-ORD/IAD route and when I get a Lufthansa flight, its free beer/wine in economy class - but when I have the misfortune of getting an United one, no nothing. Its the same price they charge in domestic. Sigh!

I just flew American ORD to FRA in June... they definitely charged for beer & wine in coach, and have been charging in coach for about 4 or 5 years.
But, they do still serve two free meals and several trips thru with the free soda cart.
