We are flying to Orlando in October 2008. When would be the best time to purchase airfare to there?

There's no one best time to buy an airfare. You need to monitor fares every day until the fare goes down. Depending on the route, Orlando is usually pretty cheap. If you're paying more than $198 RT, the fare is too high and I'd wait. Also, October is not a peak travel period so you should be ok.

I am also planning on taking the family to Orlando in Oct. 2008 and I have been watching the airfares for about a month now and the fares have skyrocketed. I was watching a jetblue and delta fare for around $249 and now they are $389 and $429 respectfully. What gives? oil? I can't bear to pay that much for a fare (x7). There is a jetblue $306 fare looking good right about now. Do you still think I need to wait this one out. I hate to lose out on the times we want. Thanks.

Not sure where you folks are flying from but...I go to MCO frequently throughout the year, don't pay over $200 from east coast! Have found www.aa.com has yielded best prices..but must monitor FREQUENTLY!!!!
Or...www.lastminute.com gab a pkg deal!!!

We are also looking to go to Orlando in November via BWI airport. The rates 4 weeks ago were $100 cheaper so I'm getting worried. Now the rates are $300 RT per seat. From what you are saying, I should wait til they go back down before buying but will rising oil prices only continue to raise airline prices? I'm also concerned about smaller airlines like Air Tran going under (like USAir did) over the summer and then not having tickets at all. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

USAir is still alive and kicking.......$300 is a bit steep from the Washington Metro down to DisneyWorld...can you catch a flight out of Dulles?? If you mean BEFORE Thanksgiving you ought to grab something cheaper but if you mean Thanksgiving Holiday be prepared to pay big-bucks.

We are 2 hrs from Dulles so National or BWI are our best choices. We are flying the 2nd week of November so I'll keep looking for cheaper airfare. Southwest isn't publishing Nov airfares until the 26th of this month. They may have decent Web fares once they come online, or they may be more with the increasing gas prices.....

If your software permits (may have trouble with anti-virus programs) sign up for SWA Ding!Fares....and, of course, check this sight like mad several times daily for those unexpected, unadvertised...hold on to your wallet.......cheap-o fares!

OW=One Way; RT=Round trip; and OW for 1/2 RT fare means you can buy this fare one-way only and pay half the RT priced listed
