I have air-traveled for 30+ years and recently flew in and out of Denver International Airport. This beautiful facility, nestled on (what seems like) 100s of acres of desolate land east of the city, is the WORST airport for new travelers that I have ever experienced. Fortunately I was shuttled into--and out of--the terminal areas but I cannot imagine how any new visitor driving to or picking up passengers would ever be successful in manuevering through the maze of that airport campus. Once you hit the border of the airport, it's got to be 5 miles before you reach the terminal area! Then, once inside the terminal (which, by the way, looks like a circus tent from afar), there is absolutely no consistent direction or signage to provide you with where you are supposed to go. Finally, there is no way to physically arrive at the boarding areas without taking an electric tram, which (at least for me on two separate visits in the early AM) was crowded, jerky-running and somewhat dangerous to ride. I can't imagine what would happen if either tram broke down. You literally cannot "manually" walk to your gate w/o use of the tram system.

Wha???? DIA??? They were the first to have a cell phone lot! Went there, rented a car, dropped off car, arrived at terminal, took tram, got to concourse, voila! One of the best airports in the good ole US-of-A.......hope you weren't suckered into those cheap $6-bucks-a-can-of Bud-Lite on board, can dull the senses, you know?

Cell phone lots? That qualifies this as a "good airport"? You gotta' be kidding! I will admit that you'll need your cell phone to call 9-1-1 when you get lost in the terminal or stranded on the tram that breaks down a mile into your underground ride to Gate C!

Are we talking the SAME Denver in the good ole US of A? It's a great airport, one of the best.........even their art work is famed!! By land size at 52 square miles (130 km²), it's the largest international airport in the United States, and the third largest international airport in the world after only King Fahd International Airport and Montréal-Mirabel International Airport. Runway 16R/34L is the longest public use runway in the United States. Denver International Airport is the main hub for low-cost carriers Frontier Airlines, Ted, and commuter carrier Great Lakes Airlines. It is also the second-largest hub for United Airlines (after Chicago's O'Hare International Airport), as well as a focus city for Southwest Airlines. Since commencing service to Denver in January 2006, Southwest has added over 30 destinations, making Denver its fastest-growing market. This being said, I think your unfair estimation of DIA is in the low percentile of unhappy flyers............been to LaGuardia lately????

LGA - omg, it smells like a giant urinal outside. I asked one of the porters about the smell, and was told that taxi drivers don't want to lose their space in line and will urinate in a cup and dump it outside the car. By far the worst airport ever. |

JFK isn't far behind it. You couldn't pay me to take a flight that touched a NY hub anymore.
