I'm planning on flying from Fresno to Georgia this July but I won't know for sure until just a few days before my expected flight date whether or not I will be flying for sure. I want to buy tickets early because I know buying them just a couple days in advance would be super expensive, but if I end up not going after all, after buying the tickets, is there a way to use the money I spent on the flights for a flight later in the year? In other words, can I get credit for a flight that I book but am unable to keep?

If you purchase a RT for $450 (example) but can't travel they will permit you to use the value of the ticket+ the $100 change fee + any extra fare if the fare goes up. Southwest & United are better. Shop around and call them if you aren't doubly sure.
